What is the standard of non-toxic PVC food grade plastic wrap film
- Dec 17, 2018 -

The PVC food grade plastic wrap we usually see belongs to the processed products. According to the latest European standards, the environmentally friendly PVC material must not contain eight heavy metals and o-dicarboxylic acid. The non-toxic food grade PVC material has the following criteria: The content of the VC monomer is less than one milligram per kilogram, and the evaporation residue in the n-heptane dissolution test is less than 150 mg per kilogram, which is considered to be a non-toxic food grade.

Polyvinyl chloride used in PVC food-grade wrap is also a commonly used plastic. It is a resin composed of a polyvinyl chloride resin, a plasticizer and an antioxidant, and is not toxic by itself. However, the main auxiliary materials such as plasticizers and anti-aging agents are toxic, so in order to ensure the safety of PVC food-grade cling film, the selection of excipients is very important.

In addition, polyvinyl chloride plastic products will slowly decompose hydrogen chloride gas at a relatively high temperature, such as about 50 degrees. At present, PVC food grade cling film on the market belongs to soft PVC which is non-toxic. In summary, if we use it improperly, it will be toxic.
